Popular Candy Made Healthy

Snickers Candy Bar
Multiple layers of nougat, caramel and chocolate are used to create this healthy guilt-free version of the classic Snickers bar.  Don't miss out on all the fun.  enjoy this delicious and nutritious treat.  This is an easy recipe however each layer needs to set in the freezer.  Make this treat in advance for parties or to enjoy at any time.
Time 30 minutes/ Prep 10 Minutes/ Freeze time 6 hours

Ingredients For the Nougat

1 cup Almond Butter
2 tablespoons of maple syrup
1 tablespoon of coconut flour

Instructions
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
Press the nougat flat 1/4 inch  thick into a rectangle shape
Place the mixture in the freezer for 30 minutes

Caramel Layer
Ingredients
1 Cup Dates (Dates must be soaked in hot water to soften and drained prior to use)
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon melted coconut oil
Peanuts (This goes on top of the caramel)

Instructions

Mix all the ingredients in a good blender or food processor until completely blended.

Take your nougat layer out of the freezer and spread the caramel on top of the nougat layer
Place all of the peanuts on top of the caramel layer and press the peanuts down with your fingers.
Freeze the layer for 5 hours or overnight to set

Chocolate layer

Ingredients
1 cup chocolate coco powder
2 tablespoon of maple syrup
1/2 cup Coconut oil melted

Instructions
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well with a whisk until the mixture is incorporated.
Place parchment paper on the counter
Place the candy on the parchment paper and cut into  6 bars or 12 mini bars
Place a wire rack ( cooling tray) on top of the parchment paper
Dip each bar into the chocolate and cover evenly.  Place each bar on the rack to set.
Place the nougat and caramel bars on top of the rack
Place the candy in the freezer to set for 15 -20 minutes
Your home made guilt free candy is ready to eat or pack in clear cellophane wrappers for guests.

All Natural low Sugar Gummy Candy
Time/25 minutes/ Prep Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

1 cup orange juice

1/2 lemon juice and strained to remove the pulp
2 teaspoons of maple syrup
1 cup of water
2 packets of gelatin mix

Instructions

Combine the water, lemon juice, orange juice, water and maple syrup in a small pot.

Mix well to combine over medium heat continuously stirring.
Slowly add the 2 packet of gelatine and dissolve in the liquid.
Place a silicone mold on a baking sheet and pour the mixture in each mold and fill to the top.
Wipe the edges of the mold with a clean paper towel.
Place the cookie sheet and the mold in the freezer to set for 20 minutes
Take the mold out of the freezer.
Turn the mold upside down over a plate and release the gummy candy from the mold. Try different juice flavors to create unique combinations like strawberry, apple peach, pineapple plum or raspberry and grape. Enjoy this tasty low sugar treat without the guilt.

Homemade Peanut Butter Cups
Who says you can't have your candy while you are on a diet or eating healthy snacks and meals.  Change the ingredients from the traditional recipe to healthyer choices and you can treat yourself once in a while without consuming too much sugar and transfats. Try this delicious homemade Peanut Butter cup for healthy Halloween treats or a special healthy snack for yourself.  You will feel satisfied without over indulging.

Ingredients
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup peanut butter ( or use almond butter)

Instructions

Line a cupcake tray with 6 paper cups

Place two inches of water in a  pan and bring to a boil to make a double boiler
Place the chocolate chips in a glass bowl and place the bowl over the boiling water and stir to melt.
Be careful not to burn the chocolate.  Reduce the heat and stir until the chocolate is melted completely.
spoon one tablespoon of chocolate in the bottom of each paper cup and spread the mixture to cover the bottom of each paper cup
place the muffin tin in the fridge  to set for 10 minutes
Add one teaspoon or more of peanut butter to each paper cup and spread. do not let the peanut butter touch the sides of the paper.
Place the muffin tin back in the fridge for 10 minutes.
Take the muffin tin out of the fridge and drizzle one tablespoon of melted chocolate over the peanut butter.
Place the muffin tin back in the fridge to set for 20 minutes.

Serve
Wrap each peanut butter cup in clear cellophane and tie with orange and black raffia or ribbon for your Halloween guests.  kids will love this special low sugar treat!

Twizzler Remake
This classic candy has been around for years.  Consider making your own version using organic low sugar options.  Try this easy to make recipe for a chewy snack or healthy Halloween treat.

Ingredients
2 cups of dates
1 cup of water
1/2 cup organic beet juice for coloring
2 cups of freeze dried fruit Strawberries, bananas
1/2 teaspoon of salt

Instructions
Place all the ingredients in a food processor and blend well
The mixture should have a thick consistency
Place a star piping tip in a plastic bag or a piping bag.
Place the bag in a tall glass tip side down and fold the edges of the plastic bag over the sides of the glass.
Fill the bag with the mixture
Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
Pipe the mixture on the cookie sheet in long straight rows.
Place the Twizzlers in a dehydrator or a 170-degree Fahrenheit  pre- heated oven for 5-6 hours until set.
These chewy treats are sure to please you trick or treaters this season.

Delicious Twix healthy Halloween Treats
This is the most popular candy treat and a cinch to make.   

Forget the store bought candy and make delicious homemade healthy Halloween treats.Using healthy ingredients you can enjoy this candy and still maintain your diet.

Ingredients Crust
2 cups oats
1 cup coconut flour
1 cup coconut oil ( melted)
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions
Place the oats in a food processor and process for two to three minutes until the oats turn into flour
Place all th ingredients in a bowl and mix well to combine.
Place a sheet of parchment paper on a cookie sheet
Place the mixture on the parchment paper and spread the mixture in a square 1/4 inch thick crust
Dock the crust with a fork to prevent the crust from rising.
Place the crust a 350-degree pre heated oven for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
Set aside to cool

Carmel
Ingredients
1 cup almond butter
1 teaspoon coconut oil
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions
Add all the ingredients in a small pan on medium heat and stir to combine.
When all the ingredients have melted and completely combined remove from the heat.
Drizzle the mixture over the cooled crust and spread evenly.
Chill in the fridge for one hour.

Chocolate layer

Ingredients
1 cup chocolate coco powder
2 tablespoon of maple syrup
1/2 cup Coconut oil melted

Instructions
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well with a whisk until the mixture is incorporated.
Spread the chocolate over the caramel.
Return the tray to the freezer for one hour to set.remove the tray and cut the candy into desired bar shapes large or small.
Serve these tasty treats in a clear cellophane bag and close the top of the bag with a Halloween sticker.
