Vitamin D Maintain Good Health

Vitamin D is essential for maintaining wellbeing and overall health. It helps the body absorb calcium and phosphorus which is crucial for teeth and bone strength.  Vitamin D plays a crucial role in strengthening bones which is essential for bone health.  It also helps regulate calcium levels in the blood supporting the growth and maintenance of the skeleton.  Vitamin D helps maintain proper calcium levels in the blood preventing calcium from being drawn from bones when the body needs it.  Vitamin D can be naturally produced by the body when exposed to sunlight for 15 to 20 minutes for lighter skin and 25 to 40 minutes for darker skin types. “ Vitamin D is the sunshine vitamin that has been produced on earth for more than 500 million years. During exposure to sunlight 7-dehydrocholesterol in the skin absorbs UV B radiation and is converted into previtamin D3.”  PubMed

Vitamin D is synthesized in the body through a process that begins with exposure specifically to sunlight UVB radiation that converts a molecule called 7-dehydrocholesterol in the skin into a form of vitamin D.  The body then metabolizes the form into the active form 1,25 dihydroxyvitamin D calcitriol in the kidneys and liver. UVB radiation from sunlight exposure penetrates the skin.  The UVB rays convert 7-dehydrocholesterol, a molecule found in the skin into a previtamin D3.  The thermal isomerization of previtamin D3 can then change its structure into vitamin D3 cholecalciferol in the body.  Vitamin D3 is then transported in the blood kidneys and liver to where it is needed through the metabolism process. Vitamin D deficiency occurs when the body does not have enough vitamin D which is essential for calcium absorption and healthy bones and teeth.  It can lead to various symptoms and health issues including bone pain, muscle weakness, increased risk of fractures, especially in older adults.

Sunlight is the primary source of vitamin D but it can also be obtained from supplements and food sources.  Bone pain is a common symptom of vitamin D deficiency often felt in the lower back, hips and legs. Muscle weakness can make it difficult to perform daily activities and is often linked to musculoskeletal issues like bone pain and an increased risk of falls.  This is because vitamin D plays a crucial role in calcium and phosphorus absorption which is essential for strong bones and healthy muscle function.  Vitamin D deficiency can contribute to fatigue, feeling tired and lacking energy which may lead to mood changes like anxiety, depression, and irritability.  “  Vitamin D deficiency is now recognized as a pandemic.  The major cause of vitamin D deficiency is the lack of appreciation that sun exposure in moderation is the major source of vitamin D for most humans.” ScienceDirect  Vitamin D deficiency has been associated with an increased risk of certain cancers, hypertension, autoimmune disease, infectious diseases, osteoporosis fractures in adults.

Vitamins boost health emphasize nutrition for prevention. Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium from food with its key building blocks of strong bones. Daily vitamin D intake recommendations for adults is 600 to 800 IU (15 to 20 mcg) with some studies suggesting 2000 IU (50 mcg may be safe and effective, however some individuals, specifically those who do not get enough sun exposure with bone health issues may require higher doses.  The safe upper limit for vitamin D supplements intake is 4000 IU per day and not exceeding this amount without medical supervision is not advised. Garden Of Life Vitamin D3 supplement is formulated with 2,000 IU of fat soluble vitamin D3 delivered in a whole food lipid base high in omega 9 organic green cracked wall chlorella plus live probiotics and enzymes to promote absorption.  Vitamin D the sunshine hormone supports calcium absorption memory, concentration, propper cell replication, and more.  One daily vitamin D3 supports immune system, bone, and joint health with 250 percent daily value of vitamin D3 the natural form with raw probiotics and enzymes to support healthy digestion.
