Christmas is a time steeped in history bringing family, faith and culture together emphasizing themes of faith, hope, and goodwill celebrating with joy.  Christmas was first established as a christians festival holiday as the introduction of festive costumes including decorating trees, exchanging gifts during the holiday season.  Characters like Santa Clause and his reindeer soon lead the holiday being embraced by both the secular and christian communities across the world.  Christmas festivities  weave together religious and cultural traditions initiates spiritual preparation for the season's events in anticipation of festivities of the holiday season.  The month of December is filled with a number of significant Christian feast days including St Nicholas Day, Lucia’s Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day observed on December 25 of each year is often celebrated among people across the globe.  The days following Christmas itself are filled with many traditions and celebrations of the holidays.


The Christmas season officially ends for the Epiphany 12 days after Christmas Day.  Many communities around the world celebrate the Christmas season with visits from religious and folklore characters including Santa Clause, Saint Nicholas, and Magi.  The figures may symbolize humor, mischief, generosity, or they may serve as enforcers to keep children from misbehaving during the year.  Only Santa knows if they have been naughty or nice as he speculates his list of the season.  Christmas has numerous traditions of which have grown in popularity over the years like deck the halls and trim the tree whether it is real or artificial trees they have become symbols of life and renewal during the darkest days of winter.  In the 16th Century Christians in Germany began bringing in decorated Christmas trees into their homes.  The practice spread and eventually became a symbol of Christmas representing life.  Christmas trees have been used for decorations and  rituals since ancient times that add magic and warmth to the holiday season. 


Christmas tree evergreens can be artificial or real trees often decorated with lights, trinkets, bows and ornaments to adorn the tree.  The use of evergreen wreaths and garlands are symbols of eternal life was common among Egyptians, Hebrews and Chinese and still used today in modern holiday decor.  The decorated version was widespread among German Lutherans by the 18th century.  Christmas trees were brought to North America by German settlers in the 17 century becoming widespread by the mid 19th century.  It was popularized by Queen Victoria’s consort the German Prince Albert of Saxe Coburg Gotha.  The Christmas tree tradition is filled with rituals as families gather together to decorate the tree making it a fun festive advent of the season.  This usually involves listening to Christmas music while trimming the tree stringing on the lights, layering tinsel, ornaments, bobbles and bows creating a festive atmosphere in anticipation that Santa will soon be here.


Christmas cookies are a sweet delightful part of the holiday season as families gather in the kitchen to bake cookies together for gifts, treats and dessert options.  By the 1950 cookie swaps became associated with Christmas parties becoming more popularized in the 1960’s as they could be made in large batches, then stored for later use and easy to share. Delicious healthy holiday cookies make every season bright made with wholesome ingredients that's sure to please. A vast array of Christmas holiday ideas circulating across the web focusing on endless possibilities during the gift giving season. In the United States Christmas is celebrated on December 25 commemorates the birth of Jesus with traditional and current trends in 2024.  Today more than 2 billion people in 160 countries consider Christmas to be one of the most significant holidays of the season.  The holiday season is celebrated by tens of millions of people worldwide trimming the tree adorned with trinkets and bows, connecting with friends, families, gatherings across all nations feasting on lavash dinners, giving gifts big and small.

According to AAA 109 million people will travel at least 50 miles ro get to their holiday destinations nearly 34 percent increase from 2021.  Christmas celebrations simplified traditions with ease in 2024 as Americans bustled about in preparation for Christmas celebrations, purchasing gifts, sending cards of good wishes and cheer, often planning a Christmas Itinerary for the day's events. Christmas is the largest economic boost for the economy in many nations around the world as sales tend to increase in most retail areas. Holiday sales are expected to increase as Forecaster retail sales will reach 1 trillion dollars in 2024 a 3.7 increase from 2023.
