Lavender is a genus of 30 known species of flowering plants in the mint family Lamiaceae as an evergreen shrub with narrow leaves and bluefish purple flowers. The narrow fragrant leaves and flowers are dried for use in potpourris, sachets, soap, and perfume. Lavender's fragrance is comprised of 180 different constraints and is a staple of the perfume industry. Lavender is native to the Old World and encompasses the Eastern Hemisphere particularly the Americas.
