Factors Cause Of Obesity

Cause of obesity is defined by an increase in body weight that is greater than 20 percent of an individual's body weight. Unhealthy lifestyles of consuming a poor diet with low activity levels often leads to obesity related symptoms of gaining too much weight ultimately affecting overall health are significant factors of developing chronic disease. The prevalence of obesity in the United States 100.1 million equating to 41.9 percent adults, and 14.7 percent children of 19.7 percent accounting for approximately 147 billion dollars in annual health care costs. Evidence based nutrition combined with an increase in physical activities have been proven strategies used to reduce over all body weight. The cause of obesity is influenced by the interaction of multiple factors that varies across populations. It was believed to contribute to abnormal hormone signaling, namely leptin and insulin which regulates the appetite and glucose metabolism in the body.

Leptin is a protein produced by fat cells that is a hormone that regulates appetite and fat storage. "Leptin is a hormone your adipose tissue (body Fat) releases that helps your body maintain normal body weight on a long term basis.  It does this by regulating hunger by providing the sensation of satiety ( feeling Full)” says Cleveland Clinic Scientists discovered leptin in 1994 so they are still studying the effects to fully understand all the effects. Hormones are chemicals that coordinate different physiological bodily functions carrying messages through your blood to organs, muscles and other tissues.  These signals tell your body what to do and how to do it. Leptin's main function is to regulate food intake and energy expenditure. Leptin helps regulate energy balance so your body does not trigger a hunger response when it does not need energy or calories and inhibits feelings of hunger. If leptin is low your body thinks it has no body fat which then signals intense food consumption leading to uncontrolled hunger cravings.

Congenital leptin deficiency may result as a cause of obesity which is involved in the regulation of body weight. Leptin was discovered in 1995 and has since been a great source of interest of scientists seeking new treatments for the cause of obesity, Type 2 Diabetes. Leptin like insulin is a hormone that allows  glucose in the blood to enter cells providing them with energy to function. It is part of a network of regulatory hormones which controls how energy is consumed and used up in the body. Resistance to leptin is associated to obesity often caused by the malfunction of the brains leptin receptor.  Researchers in the cause of obesity seek how the receptors of leptin interact in the body they believe they may find new treatments for obesity and metabolic disorders. Eating too much fructose can induce leptin resistance, a condition that can easily lead to becoming overweight when consumed with an unhealthy high fat, high calorie diet.

Regulate leptin levels in the body consuming foods high in fiber, limit fructose consumption, eat complex carbohydrates, eat 3 ounces of lean protein for breakfast, take omega 3s, follow portion control eating the correct amount of food equally spaced throughout the day, perform HIIT high intensity interval training for exercise, get more sleep. There is mounting evidence that people who get too little sleep have a higher risk of weight gain and obesity than people who get 7-8 hours of sleep per night, says Harvard T.H. Chan.

Deep sleep helps your body repair healing, fight chronic diseases hypertension, depression and countless other ailments like obesity.  Sleeping serves the body's internal organs, and the physiological process of working throughout the night balances energy, hormones and supports mood, alertness enhancing intellectual functions. If you are feeling forgetful and fatigued all the time you may be suffering from lack of sleep.  Lack of sleep can impair productivity at work and decrease reasoning in problem solving skills in attention to details.  During sleep the body releases several hormones into the bloodstream including growth hormone and cortisol as well as the hormones responsible for appetite regulation. Including leptin and ghrelin.  Developing good sleep habits regulates hormone levels preventing the development of obesity. A good night's sleep is the key to good health and may prevent obesity and maintain a healthy weight.

Eating a wide variety of fresh fruit, vegetables and lean proteins, and healthy fats will stave off hunger consuming foods high in nutrition consuming foods you want to eat. The cause of obesity may be malnutrition of eating the wrong kinds of foods known to promote hunger cravings.
