A healthy Christmas Dinner eaten for the holidays can be filled with low calories foods you love to eat. Christmas holiday celebration can be simplified this year by enjoying moments of peace at home or in far-off destinations in 2022.  Christmas feast of Nativity is an annual festival primarily observed on December 25 as a religious cultural celebration among billions of people worldwide.  Christmas Day is a public holiday in many of the world's nations and is celebrated by a majority of people as part of the holiday season. Friends and family members often gather to celebrate the festivities eating special holiday dishes and giving gifts of joy. Americans across the country are concerned about their health by establishing good dietary guidelines during the holidays while still enjoying the foods they love the most in 2022. Healthy Holiday eating will make celebrating at home a special event by simplifying the menu with classic holiday appetizer platters served with sessional beverages that complement any meal. 


Sugar free treats are a low calorie option for those who are watching their weight. Reduce holiday stress planning in advance creating low calorie nutritious meals seasoned to perfection. Deck the halls and trim the tree this holiday season celebration in 2022 unwrap the presents then have a healthy Christmas dinner with roasted turkey or ham complete with low calorie side dishes, holiday beverage with a mocha peppermint twist. Side dishes make every meal complete, accentuating the main course and complementing the protein of choice. Most meals have 3-4 side dishes to pair with roasted turkey, beef, fish or vegan selections. Cauliflower mash potatoes are always a favorite among guests as one cup serving is only 57 calories made with one head of cauliflower, one leak family chopped, one teaspoon of butter, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Make cauliflower mash by cutting one head of cauliflower in half and removing the stem from the center. Break apart the cauliflower into 1-inch pieces then steam the cauliflower in a saucepan with chopped leaks until tender 20-30 minutes.


Puree the cauliflower mixture using a food processor until smooth. Add the salt, pepper, butter and olive oil to the mashed cauliflower puree to blend. Cauliflower mash can be heated and served at dinner.  Healthy Christmas dinners serve various vegetable dishes that are sure to please any guest. Roasted asparagus topped with baked onion bits is a delicious side dish option. Roast 2 bunches of asparagus on a baking sheet pan tossed with 4 cloves of chopped garlic, drizzled with olive oil, and topped with a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F then bake the asparagus for 10-12 minutes. Serve the asparagus on a platter topped with chopped sauteed onions. Prepare the onions in advance by removing the skins and then slicing them into even pieces. Saute the onions in a frying pan on medium heat with a drizzle of olive oil until the onions turn slightly brown in color and crisp 1-3 minutes. Sauteed onions can top any dish for additional flavors on vegetables, meats and entrees.


Sauteed sliced Brussel sprouts is an amazing side dish for a healthy Christmas dinner option. Prepare one pound of Brussels sprouts removing the sprout from the stem. Slice each brussel sprout into equal slices using a food processor.  If you do not have a food processor use a paring knife to slice the Brussel sprouts into thin slices. Saute the Brussel sprouts in a skillet with a drizzle of olive oil, and ½ cup of a peeled chopped onion, 3 cloves of minced garlic, salt and freshly ground black pepper for 3 minutes until tender. Top the brussel sprouts with ½ cup dried cranberries for a touch of sweetness.  Caramelized roasted carrots with top on is a good side dish for any meal. Roast carrots in a 425-degree F preheated oven. Place the carrots on a baking pan in a single layer.  Drizzle the carrots with olive oil, pinch of salt, and freshly ground black pepper for 10-15 minutes until the carrots are tender. Simple side dishes will complement any healthy Christmas dinner entree. Seasonal beverages are especially important during the holidays signifying the change of the season.


Low calorie beverages are a popular choice among dieters. Placing a beverage table near the dining area packed with a variety of beverages, ice and glasses is a great way for guests to self-serve drinks. A punch bowl filled with cranberry punch is festive for a healthy Christmas dinner celebration. Prepare the cranberry punch by adding 2 bottles of chilled sugar-free Ginger Ale to a large punch bowl with one 32-ounce of unsweetened cranberry juice. Before serving add 3 cups of ice cubes to chill the punch.
